Going on Hiatus
I will be going on a hiatus, I am not sure for how long at this time but it is not indefinite, I will be back for sure! My main reason for going on a hiatus is to take a step back from 3D and try my hand at drawing. I did write a bit about drawing in a previous post, but have given it much more thought since then. Over my 2 years of learning 3D, I have developed a passion for art but have also come to learn about a lot of limitations and troubles of 3D in an anime style. It certainly can be done, but the current workflow, sacrifices, and other problems that must be dealt with are difficult to overcome. I lack experience in texturing, animation, rigging, and more. So that leads to problems like my character's skin and clothes looking a bit bland, only being able to make still photos, and trouble with getting good poses and facial expressions, etc. Learning just those few things alone will take a long time and require a hiatus too. Without that knowledge and skill, I'm simply taking more time to produce worse content. Another unfortunate problem is I sometimes have trouble finding the right information to learn and improve in 3D. Simply put, a lot of it is behind a paywall, and there is a myriad of beginner tutorials on sites like YouTube but not as many advanced ones. I am far from the level of some of my favorite 3D artists like GreatM8, Beanis, or IceDev, and I do not currently know how to get there, and I don't just want to hope that I figure that out over the next few years. Luckily, Drawing on the other hand feels a bit more accessible. I guess since it's a more popular hobby and more people do it compared to 3D, I have found no lack of information to help me learn and improve. So I am not sure exactly when I will be back or what I will be making by then, but it will likely be either drawing or 3D animation. But at the very least, I will provide an update to my progress in 3 months, because I saw a video by illustrator Naoki Saitou about improving your art in 3 months. See you then! And I don't know who I write these blog posts for exactly, at this point in time I don't have any "actual" fans that I know of, and the content I have made is very sparse, but I'm happy to just write them for myself. It's nice to keep a log of my progress, and I hope they may be helpful to whoever may read them in the future :)
